Balances

Balances show you how much money you have in your accounts. We recognize two types of balances:

Actual balance

This is the current balance of your account. Transactions that haven’t yet been booked (e.g. card payments) are deducted from (or added to) this balance.

Available balance

This is the amount that you can use for any payments at the moment. It is the actual balance minus (or plus) any transactions that are yet to be booked, such as card payments or allowed overdraft.

Hold payments

Hold payments show transactions that have already been made but haven’t been fully processed (booked) yet. Card payments are the most common example – you pay your merchant and until both banks process the payment, we show you this amount as a hold payment.

You may also encounter hold payments arising from enforcement of money judgements, deaths etc.
